For many, travel is just a hobby. Most people take the ability to travel for granted. Yet, travel is so much more. During these hard times, traveling is looked in a negative light. However, I’m writing to spread light and hope for a better future.

When speaking with my grandparents, they always told me that they could had traveled more. You are full of life don’t let it go to waste. One of the most common things to do in someone’s bucketlist is to travel to a place. Why live a life of what could have been, when you can live a life of why not? Growing up that was my biggest fear. The fear of the unknown. Not knowing what could happen made me not want to take action.
I was stuck inside a mental box. Until, I had my first internatonal flight as an adult. I went to Panama and saw how wonderful the people were. Saw how different Latin America was than what is shown on television. The nature, the lakes, the canal and the skyscappers looked something from a dream. It opened my eyes to so many possibilities.
Travel is the best teacher. You get to learn so much about the world, while living it. Once this global lockdown is over, I encourage you to travel and make your own memories. To me, living life is to make memories. When I get old, I will have amazing stories to tell to my kids and grandchildren. Hopefully, they will pass on thier amazing stories. Who knows, their travels might be to other planets! Remember to live your life because people everyday don’t have that choice. Regardless of what is going on, remember to smile. Be that light, you never know who you are helping out.

Of course, take care of yourself while traveling. It’s best to wear masks and gloves. Make sure to stay fit to keep the immune system strong.
Much love and stay healthy!

It’s all true, well said.

When my Mom was alive she’d travel to where I had recently moved and because I moved a lot, she saw different places. We also took great vacations when I was growing up. But as she got older, I couldn’t get her to spend her money on trips. Her friends would invite her and she’d say she didn’t want to impose on them, or she didn’t have enough money, etc. But then she died, leaving my son and I an inheritance. I appreciated that but would have rather she had traveled and enjoyed those experiences and memories made on the travel.

Wow, she seemed adventurous when she was young. I can understand. My grandma is like that now. She feels like a burden to people if she would have to travel. I told her that we could still travel but she wants to stay home most of time. At least, she thought about you both. Thank you for sharing this heart touching comment katelon 🙂

My dad got like that when he got older and he had always loved to travel. Then he didn’t want to leave his property. But then he had a hip made of metal and got the third degree from security and that was before 9/11.

This is absolutely true! I think there’s a common misconception where people think travel always has to be expensive. In my view, I believe they can choose destinations that fit their pockets better or better still explore their country home from within.
I’ve discovered that some people grow old without exploring the same city that they were born in. They just kept working and avoiding travel till they gre old. Sad.

I defintely agree. If i could add something to your clear explanation of the added value of travel to our personal development I would say that the travel industry employs a lot of workers worldwide and most of them are now at a halt, many lost their job, especially the seasonal workers and the tourism professionals such as tour leaders and city guides. When the virus crisis will be over, travelling will also be the best way to contribute the re start of the tourism industry and provide million of workers with renovated job opportunities

Totally agree that travelling is a great teacher. My kids are privileged to have that an early age. I started traveling only in my twenties. We’ve never been to Panama, but hopefully someday we would, too. – Amor

The state of affairs has put a real damper on traveling as a prospect. I’ve owned a passport for almost 4 years now. Still haven’t exceeded a 5 hour flight. I feel like I’m getting better at making the most of time spent abroad. Thank for the friendly reminder!

Thank you for shinning some light back on travels. (Given the mindset) traveling to new places helps us learn about the world as well as ourselves. What more could we ask of life than collect memories to share rather than things to show. Keep your light and spirit alive ✨

I believe everything said made a great deal of sense. But, what about this?
suppose you were to create a awesome headline? I am not
saying your information isn’t solid, but suppose
you added something that makes people want more? I mean Why travel means
to be alive – Passport Overused is
a little plain. You could look at Yahoo’s front page
and note how they create post headlines to grab people to open the links.
You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab people interested about everything’ve written.
In my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit more interesting.

I believe Travel has different shades and everyones learns it their way. It’s a journey you would never want to end it and come back from. Going on roadtrip or flying countries are just hobbies because you can afford them. Today a lot of us are stuck in different places during our travel or at home reached safe…Soon the times will come back when you will start traveling again and get to see a complete refreshed and glorified nature it would’ve taken a new shape which will amaze you. Hopefully we start soon till then stay indoors and safe

Absolutely agree, I love traveling and can’t wait to get back out there full time. In the meantime we are lucky enough to now be allowed to travel locally around New Zealand. There is a lot to be said about exploring your own country as a tourist would 🙂

Travel came into our life inadvertently as part of an army life but it has become part of our soul. It never ceases to amaze us how many wonderful sights there are to see and how a lifetime doesn’t seem enough to see it all.
